| Changbai Hot Springs |
 |
No more than two kilometers away from the waterfall are a cluster
of several dozen springs (Wenquan), scattered in an area of 1,000
square meters. You need not come close, to see the vapor shrouding
the entire area, which takes on many different colors due to reflection.
The springs are most charming in winter, when the steam forms a sharp
contrast with the surrounding snow-covered environs.
The hotsprings here are classified as high-temperature ones (mostly
over 60 degrees C., with an extreme measured as high as 82 degrees
C.). For ages, water from the springs has been thought "mysterious",
and is considered to be especially beneficial to patients plagued
by rheumatism or skin disease. For those interested in these healing
effects, there are bathing pools that will allow you to try this
mysterious spring water. |
