Hanzhong is situated to the south of Qinling Mountain; the north of
Daba Mountain; and the upper reaches of Han River. The middle reaches
of Han River had been occupied by Chu dynasty in Warring States Period
with its country named 'Han zhong ';. According to recordation
of historical literature, as it is located in the north of Han River
and Han Mountain to its south, hence the name of the country. It covers
an area of 27,246 square kilometres with length of 258,600 meters
from east to west and width of 192,900meters from south to north.
Hanzhong has a population of 3,480,000. It consists of one district
Hantai and ten counties including Nanzheng, Chenggu, Yangxian, Xixiang,
Mianxian, Ningqiang and Liuyang, altogether271 villages and towns,
7 sub-district offices, 3462 administration hamlets and 156 inhabitant
committees.
The famous relics in Hanzhong where is approved by state department
as a famous historical cultural city in 1993 are 'ancient
Han platform';, 'please general platform';, 'Zhangliang
temple';, 'Zhugeliang ancestral temple';, 'Zhugeliang
tomb';, 'Zhangsai tomb';, 'Cailun tomb';,
'ancient plank road build along a cliff';, 'thirteen
articles of Hanan and Wei ';, 'monument of Lingya temple
'; and 'monument of Mo cliff ';. Bao states is in
Xia, Shang, zhou periods and Hanzhong had been set as country in
Spring and Autumn and Warring states period. Since 3000 years, there
have been bequeathed so many historical sights, with 'ancient
plank road build along a cliff'; as miracle of the world, 'Stone-gate';
and 'stone from cliff'; as treasures of nation. Because
Liubang, Zhugeliang have done his own occupation here, so lots of
sites have been leaved.History and cultural relics of Hanzhong are
extremely rich with its magic nature sights. Inorder to attract
travelers from all over the world, we should excavate and publicize
these scenic spots and historical sites based on the age of 'Eastern
Han and Western Han'; and 'Three kingdoms';. There
will be developed scenic spots and nature sights containing South
lake, East lake (drinking pool for horse), Nansha River, Dingjun
Mountain, and other places.
