| Nyingchi - A Green Gem of Tibet |
 |
On the way southward, even though there are continuous snowcapped
mountains and scattered lakes. Tibet-Qinghai Plateau is still dominated
by monotonous iron-gray and brown. Contrasting with relatively low
altitude of mountains, the land looks more isolated and lonely. Not
until reaching Mila Mountain entrance after passing Lhasa city, your
vision can be fulfilled with lively green, the color that can only
be lavished on Nyingchi in Tibet.
Nyingchi is the lowest district in Tibet-Qinghai Plateau. Mt. Himalaya,
Nychen-Thangla and Henduan all terminate here. With great energy
of Yarlung Tsangpo River and its branches such as Nyang River, Palong
Tsangpo, Yigong Tsangpo, lots of grand mountains and valleys gradually
formed here. In particular, the average depth of Yarlung Tsangpo
Grand Canyon is over 1000 meters while Mt. Namchak Bawra soars up
to 7782 meters high and honoured as "spreadhead into the sky".
According to statistics, forest coverage of this area is rated as
No.8 nationwide, a little less than Heilongjiang Province and is
the second best in plant variety and regeneration.
Owing rich natural resources Nyingchi can develop its prominent
culture, history and economy. At the very first, Nyingchi is mistakenly
regarded as a barren and isolated land that only refugees and exileres
were forced to live here, but the fact is Nyingchi is an excellent
place of living and planting and owns rich deposits of iron and
forest. Not surprisingly, well-developed and systematic farmland
became the major economic model here, therefore derived lots of
luxuries, arts and religious places. The Brilliant Bugurlamalin
Temple and Lang County Tomb Relics are very good examples.
Besides Kongpo, Luoyu area is another major component of nowaday
Nyingchi, including Metok, Bomi and Zayul, where Lhoba, Menba and
Deng people live. Here are countless animals and plants where intensified
forests and deep gorges exist. Metok County, which is called "Mysterious
Lotus", has quite a few Lama Temples and legendary mountains.
What's more, the Lieshan Tomb Group is worthy of sightseeing for
its magnificence and uniqueness.
Nyingchi is also famous for its ever being the original source
of native religion---Bon. Pilgrims far from Qinghai, Sichuan Provinces
come to those sacred mountains for worship. Nevertheless, the way
they express their belief is different from Tibetan religious believers---
they walk around in conterclockwise. On every 10th day of August
in Tibetan calendar, a pomp festival "Niangpulhasu" is
held, accompanying with newly found material Exchanging Meeting.
What's more, the ritual and date of new year in Kongpo is different
from other places, too.
As it is called "Goddess'tear", Nyang River incubates
a radiant pearl on its bank-Bayi County. To its north, there is
Lhasa valley; to its south, Milin. In particular, there is a famous
landscape called Basongtso which is well-known for tea and orchard.
At the same time, Niangpu Gorge, Phaga Temple and Duojipamu Sacred
Mountain are also very good places to go.
Nyingchi owns such variety of tourism resources and is definitely
charming and unique. There are not only snow mountain, ice peak,
lake, river, temple here and there, but its distinct elegance and
humidity, reflected by orchards, natural forest and sub-tropical
scenery. |
